Is B.E.T Racist?

Black Entertainment Television. Why is this socially acceptable? Do I dare speculate on the social reception of a Caucasian Entertainment Television network? Outrage and scandal, to say the least, would be the order of the day. BET, then, should be treated no differently. A television network that displays programming solely for one race is, in fact, racist. I understand there is a deplorable lack of Af.-American lead actors/actresses on other networks--ABC, CBS, NBC, etc.--but is creating a whole network entirely for Af-Ams a legitimate answer to this problem? I say it is not. What about demanding that more programs featuring Af.-Ams in prominent roles appear on these pre-existing stations? BET itself is a haven and blatant propagator of deleterious black stereotypes--materialism, misogyny, promiscuity, and violence. Why would Af.-Ams--or anyone--support a network that undermines all the progress we've made, that enlargens rather than reduces the racial divide?
